A snowy night and a wood burning stove.....
 I was disappointed that my new house did not have a fireplace my husband knowing my disappointment  bought a beautiful large wood burning stove with brass and glass doors lugged it home and into the basement which was just that a basement waiting to be finished into a family room. all of this while I was at work.
 Later that evening when I came home ,cold and tired , I could smell something burning as I came up the driveway OH! MY GOD!! was my house on fire!!! My husband met me in the garage and after assureing me the house was not on fire led me into the warm basement.There in the basement was 2 lawn chairs,with an upsidedown milk crate as a table between , and a tray with 2 glasses of wine. The scene may have been spartan but I felt like a queen sitting in the glow of the fire from my new wood burning stove and I still do.

Back in the day when we all had live christmas trees we knew when it was time to take the tree down either by the piles o needles on the floor , by how many ornaments slid off the tree or how droopy the garland on the tree became .

Snow Angel

Everyone has an opinion and a memory of snow Most people dont like to drive or shovel snow that is a given and a present memory. Lets think about the good memories .We all have  built a snowman,made snow angels, sled riding has always brought memories some of us even live to ski. This random memory reaches way back in my childhood My mother would dress 4 kids in assorted snow suits,hats,boots,gloves scarves we looked like Ralphie from the christmas story, she put us outside with our sleds,saucers,and shovels . We never lasted as long as the snow by the time she put the last kid out and started a pot of cocoa the first kid had made it allllll the way around the house and was pounding on the door yammering "Please let me in I am freezing"  we drank out cocoa and were soon ready to go again!!! I think in my random memory the real "Snow Angel" was my Mom :-)
